*Light Naphtha
*Heavy Naphtha
Petroleum naphtha is a type of hydrocarbon mixture derived from crude oil during the refining process. It’s a volatile, colorless to light yellow liquid that consists primarily of aliphatic hydrocarbons, but can also contain aromatic hydrocarbons.
Key characteristics and uses of petroleum naphtha include:
- Boiling Range: Petroleum naphtha typically has a boiling range between approximately 30°C to 200°C (86°F to 392°F). This range can be divided into light naphtha (lower boiling point) and heavy naphtha (higher boiling point).
- Composition: It primarily consists of light hydrocarbons such as pentanes, hexanes, and heptanes, along with some cycloalkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons like benzene, toluene, and xylene (known as BTX).
